Nashville, TN...(February 20, 2012)...Country Music’s “Family Man” Craig Campbell will pay a visit to the Daytona International Speedway this weekend as he is set to headline the Coca-Cola stage in the Midway Fan Zone prior to the start of the Daytona 500on Sunday, February 26. Campbell will take the stage at 10:45am for a FREE 90 minute set before the start of the race at 1pm.

Craig Campbell teamed with Shirts For a Cure by using his merchandise sales to support and raise awareness for breast cancer research. Campbell donated thousands of dollars to Shirts For a Cure so far by selling the “Bobber Tanks” on tour last summer to go along with his 2nd hit single “Fish.” With the pink bobbers clever placement along the chest, and the tag-line “Save the Bobbers”, the shirts are a hit as well.

Campbell Congregation. Fan club name eh? That’s the idea we are bouncing around. And as always, we would love some insightful feedback of what you think. Last weekend we marked our territory in the Northeastern part of the country. We found ourselves in the turf of the NE Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens. Four songs into his debut Boston area performance, Craig Campbell told the crowd, "In case you haven't all figured it out yet, we play country music."

Ah, that was pretty clear from the get go, Craig. You would not be mistaken for any of the pop and rocking country acts that get a lot of play on country radio, but aren't of the traditional ilk. For one, there's the instrumentation - a good chunk of fiddle and pedal steel. Second, there's a whole lot of drinking going on in these songs.

Craig Campbell is nothing new to the country music circuit as he’s been playing it for years.

Though he’s now known for his hit singles like “Family Man,” “Fish,” and “When I Get It,” the Georgia-bred’s career was a long time in the making.

Campbell’s upbringing was, at times, less than ideal. His parents divorced when he was young and his mother later re-married. ”In all honesty,” Craig says, “my life began when my mama married my stepdad.” Years later, when Craig was 11 years old, his biological father died. “The older I get, the more I realize didn’t know him,” Craig admits.

Campbell joins previously announced performers Chris Cavanaugh, Kristen Kelly, THE FARM, JT Hodges, Chuck Wicks, Love and Theft and Casey James. Whitney Duncan, who will host the event for the second year, will also perform.

In an effort for you all to get to know the band, I’m going to highlight the people I call my family on the road. First up is the man who is keeping it old school country. He goes by the name David and is definitely is the face of the bus’s morale. If you can’t get along with this guy, you may want to go to doctor to make sure you have a pulse. Hailing from the great state of Ohio and sporting the coolest hair of the band, he slips and slides on his steel guitar to define the Craig Campbell crew as authentic country and western music.

The Bluesman. Livin’ on Love. Chatahoochie. Boom. Awesome past 3 shows with the man, the living legend himself, Alan Jackson. His crew made us feel welcome from day 1 and great people to work with. Seeing the Alan Jackson crowd really made me appreciate the dynamics of country music. Going from playing shows with Luke Bryan and seeing the youthful energy of his fans to the soulful show of Jamey Johnson, to the attentive, traditional loving fans of AJ, it’s great to witness how far country music expands into the population’s demographics. As far as which crowd I like best...

We lost one of the family this past weekend. Josh, our production manager, moved onto greener pastures. But that’s okay because I’m upgrading to his bunk on the bus. Jk. Great guy and awesome at his job. For his last show though we pulled a little prank on him. There should be video of it coming soon, so stay tuned to Craig Cam. We have three shows with Alan Jackson coming up this next week/weekend. We’ll be in Minnesota, Iowa and Georgia. Looking forward to hearing some dag gum traditional country music.

Who would win: a hurricane or Craig Campbell? Hold on, the hurricane’s name is Craig. I’d say Craig Campbell. That’s ridiculous. It was a fun weekend, full of government buildings, blueberries, lobsta (New England accent) and hurricanes. We had a day off in Washington D.C. where we got our tourist on and saw some sites. Arlington is definitely a humbling experience. Had a great show at the Blueberry Fest in Union, ME. After we got the bus unstuck we were treated to some heavenly blueberry pie and some wicked sick lobsta. More New England accent. Yep.

What up CC people! Busy week this past week. Springfield, IL ya’ll know how to kick it on a Tuesday night! Opening for Luke Bryan is always a good time. Looking forward to seeing those guys on the road again. Thursday we enjoyed a beer or four at Power and Light in Kansas City. Excited to get back there! We woke up before the birds on Friday and flew to Vegas for a show with Dierks and Randy Houser. Collectively, our 8 man wolf pack ended up making money at the casinos and only breaking 3 laws. Speaking for the band, we missed our home away from home for a couple days.
